The Firm has established a corporate finance group which is being led by Michael P. Braun, an accomplished structured finance attorney, with a team of senior-level associates with multi-dimensional legal backgrounds including securities, complex life and annuity litigation, ERISA, and bankruptcy.
Mr. Braun began his career in the securitization department at what was then known as Brown Wood Ivey Mitchell and Petty. He was mentored by John Quisenberry, one of the early designers of a specialized securities product– securities backed by pooled mortgages and other assets with income streams that could be securitized. Mr. Braun then joined Skadden Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP as an associate, playing an instrumental role in the development of Skadden’s structured finance practice in California.
Mr. Braun subsequently became a partner in the securitization departments of Brown and Wood LLP (now known as Sidley Austin LLP) , McKee Nelson LLP and later at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. He helped to develop the structured finance department at McKee Nelson. Mr. Braun’s 30-year practice has involved representing major investment and commercial banks, issuers, loan originators, and investors in complex structured finance and other financial transactions.
