Stephen McDougall is Of Counsel for d’Arcambal, Ousley & Cuyler Burk and brings substantial expertise in data strategy, data privacy, technology transactions, digital transformation and the development and deployment of Artificial Intelligence.
Prior to his current role, Stephen led a variety of teams and led numerous cross-functional initiatives at Prudential Financial, most recently leading the Data & Privacy legal team. His experience spans a wide range of businesses and functions in the U.S. LATAM, APAC and the EU, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, digital transformation, data strategy, privacy and AI. Stephen’s experience includes numerous lines of insurance, working with Broker-Dealer and Registered Investment Advisor entities, product development, business process improvement, compliance program maturation, regulatory advocacy, litigation, e-discovery, marketing, complex transaction negotiation and documentation, employee benefit plan design and operations, data strategy, data & digital analytics for business, developing and deploying AI, and other business process and product improvements, and supporting many complex cross-functional initiatives.
Before joining Prudential, Stephen spent a number of years at the law firm of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal (now Dentons) in New York City, practicing in the areas of commercial litigation and business regulation, including representation of individuals and corporations in an array of court, arbitral and regulatory matters, internal investigations and risk assessment engagements. After Sonnenschein, Stephen was in-house counsel with AXA Equitable, where he represented the company in litigation, arbitration and regulatory matters and supported internal business process improvement initiatives.
